Description:

This 1963.5 Ford Galaxie 500 two-door hardtop underwent a multi-year refurbishment and modification work that was completed in 2012. Work included installing a 482ci stroker V8 and a Toploader four-speed manual transmission as well as refinishing the car in red over red upholstery. Additional modifications are vast and described below. The car was used for drag racing purposes following the 2012 build and reverted back to a street configuration during additional refurbishment that was completed in 2022.

Interior:

The cabin is equipped with front and rear bench seating trimmed in red upholstery, along with a color-coordinated dash pad, door panels, and carpets. Sheetmetal surfaces are finished in body color, and additional appointments include a Hurst shifter, bright moldings, and lap belts. The blower motor, AM radio, and analog clock are non-functional. A three-spoke steering wheel fronts a column-mounted aftermarket tachometer, a side-sweep 120-mph speedometer, a coolant-temperature gauge, and a fuel-level gauge. Additional auxiliary gauges are mounted to the lower dash.

Exterior:

The car was finished from the factory in Rangoon Red (J), and was repainted in 2008 following a period of long-term storage. Exterior details include quad headlights, chrome bumpers, “Galaxie 500” and “427” badging, a driver-side mirror, front vent windows, bright trim, and dual exhaust outlets.

Drivetrain:

The replacement 427ci V8 utilizes a Genesis iron block and was bored and stroked to 482ci with a full build using performance components. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement Toploader four-speed manual transmission and a Strange Engineering Nodular rear end with 3.25:1 gears, a Moser 31-spline axles, and a Eaton Truetrac limited-slip differential. The transmission was overhauled in 2019. A McLeod clutch and throw-out bearing have been installed and the clutch was adjusted in preparation for the sale. Black-finished 15″ steel wheels wear bright covers and are mounted with reproduction 7.10-15″ Firestone tires. The car has been fitted with adjustable dampers, CalTrac spring perches and rear traction bars, as well as an SSBC front disc brake kit that is complemented by rear drums and a line-lock system.
