Description:
This 1970 Dodge Challenger coupe was refurbished under prior ownership and fitted with a Ray Barton Racing Engines 540ci Hemi V8, which is linked to a four-speed manual transmission, a QA1 carbon-fiber driveshaft, and a Detroit Truetrac differential with 4.10:1 gearing. Finished in orange with a black vinyl top over orange vinyl upholstery, the car is equipped with Rallye-style 15″ wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, Flaming River quick-ratio steering, Hotchkis and QA1 suspension components, Calvert Racing traction bars, dual Edelbrock four-barrel carburetors, dual auxiliary electric cooling fans, exhaust headers, and a TTi exhaust system with electronic cutouts as well as R/T badging, halo-style headlights, a pistol-grip shifter, and a Sony head unit.
The car was stripped and repainted in orange during the aforementioned refurbishment. Features include a black vinyl roof, black tail striping, a black tail panel, R/T badging, halo-style headlights, a driver-side mirror, a flip-up fuel cap, and quad exhaust tips.
Interior:
The front bucket seats and rear bench have been retrimmed in orange vinyl upholstery, which is complemented by coordinating door panels, headliner, and carpeting. A woodgrain-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and alternator status. An Equus oil-pressure gauge is positioned below the dashboard.
Exterior:
Rallye-style 15″ wheels are mounted with G60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GT front tires and 275/50 Mickey Thompson GT Street S/S rear rubber. The control-arm front suspension is augmented by a QA1 tubular K-member, Hotchkis components, an anti-roll bar, and Flaming River quick-ratio rack-and-pinion steering. Calvert Racing CalTracs traction bars, leaf springs, Hotchkis shocks, and an anti-roll bar are fitted at the rear. Power-assisted disc brakes with cross-drilled and slotted rotors are utilized front and rear.
Drivetrain:
The 540ci Hemi V8 was supplied by Ray Barton Racing Engines. Dynamometer results from October 2024 indicate that the engine produced peak outputs of 735 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 670 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm.
