Description:

This 1993 Mazda RX-7 R-1 was acquired by the current owner in 2017 and it was subsequently fitted with a replacement Mazda 1.3-liter Wankel rotary short block as well as a Haltech engine management computer and more as detailed below. Finished in black over black cloth with microsuede inserts, the car is further equipped with a refurbished 5-speed manual transmission, 5zigen FN01R-C 18″ wheels, aftermarket gauge-face overlays, A/C with RX-8-sourced components, and a Sony touchscreen stereo linked to Rockford Fosgate speakers as well as the R-1 package, which added a rear spoiler, a front air dam, twin oil coolers, front brake air ducts, and a front shock tower support.

Interior:

The two high-backed buckets are upholstered in black cloth with microsuede inserts. Appointments include air conditioning, a microsuede shift boot, a Mazdaspeed aluminum shift knob with carbon-fiber trim, and a Sony touchscreen stereo linked with Rockford Fosgate speakers. Sound-deadening material has been installed throughout the cabin. The flat-bottom steering wheel features carbon-fiber sections, and sits ahead of an AEM multifunction gauge situated atop the steering column. The gauge cluster was fitted with aftermarket overlays and white lighting, and it contains a 180-mph speedometer, a central tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline, and a trio of auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 53k miles.

Exterior:

The car left the factory finished in Brilliant Black (PZ). An aftermarket rear diffuser was installed along with side skirts and rear window louvers, and replacement exterior seals were installed. Additional exterior details include a front lip spoiler and a rear wing as part of the R-1 Package as well as ventilated front fenders, pop-up headlights with refinished covers and HID bulbs, and fog lights that were reportedly sourced from a later-model FD RX-7.

Drivetrain:

The replacement 1.3-liter rotary short block was installed within the last 400 miles, and it is equipped with the following components:

- HKS exhaust downpipe
- Walbro 255-lph fuel pump
- Injector Dynamics 1,050cc fuel injectors
- Trak Pro cold-air intake system
- Cool Charge III intercooler kit
- GReddy throttle body elbow
- ACT XACT flywheel
- Aluminum idler pulley kit
- RX-8-spec A/C compressor and condenser
- Replacement A/C evaporator
- JP3 A/C kit with expansion valve, brackets, and lines
