Description:

This Backdraft Racing Roadster is a Shelby Cobra replica that is powered by a Roush 427R V8 mated to a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential and is finished in Indigo Blue with white stripes over black upholstery. The car was assembled at Speed Fanatix of Boynton Beach, Florida, where it was commissioned by the current owner in 2020. Equipment includes an independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, Halibrand-style 18″ wheels, and a host of engine modifications. Further details include the Big and Tall package, a single roll hoop, LED headlights, Raydot-style mirrors, quick-jack bumperettes, push-button ignition, and a Sabelt steering wheel and harnesses.

Interior:

The Big and Tall package includes a recessed driver floor and wider low-back bucket seats that are trimmed in black with white stitching. Additional appointments include a push-button ignition, a battery cutoff switch, a glove compartment, a blue shift knob, Sabelt four-point harnesses, Backdraft Racing-branded floor mats, and a fire extinguisher mounted between the seats. The Sabelt suede-wrapped steering wheel features a white centering stripe and fronts a black dashboard with instrumentation consisting of a Backdraft Racing 200-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges.

Exterior:

The fiberglass body is mounted to a reinforced steel box frame and is finished in Indigo Blue with white center stripes. Exterior details include LED headlights, quick-jack bumperettes, a hood scoop, fender vents, Raydot-style mirrors, and wind wings as well as a chrome-finished roll hoop, a Le Mans-style fuel filler, and side-exit exhaust pipes with perforated heat shields. Paint protection film is applied to the tops of the doors and to the front of the rear quarter panels.

Drivetrain:

The Roush 427R V8 features a Holley four-barrel carburetor with an electric choke as well as an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, an MSD distributor, a front-mounted oil cooler, and ceramic-coated exhaust headers. The most recent oil change was performed in early 2023. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok rear differential with 3.55:1 gearing that was reportedly sourced from an S550 Mustang. The clutch friction disc and pressure plate were replaced in July 2021. Halibrand-style 18″ wheels are secured with safety-wired three-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with Nitto NT555 G2 tires measuring 245/40 up front and 295/40 out back. The independent suspension features adjustable coilovers at all four corners. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs.
