Description:

This 1968 Dodge Charger was produced as an R/T model in Hamtramck, Michigan on May 23, 1968, with a 440ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It was refurbished under previous ownership and fitted with a 426ci Hemi V8 before it was purchased by the current owner in 2015. Subsequent modifications involved the installation of a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, a FiTech fuel-injection system, a custom suspension with front and rear coilovers, and many more described below. Finished in blue over black vinyl upholstery, the car also has a black vinyl top, black R/T tail stripes, concealed headlights, front bucket seats, a center console, an AM radio, and a woodgrain steering wheel.

Interior:

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black vinyl with silver-colored accents. Equipment includes a push-button starter, power windows, a Classic Auto Air climate-control system, a Dodge Solid State AM radio, a Hurst shifter, and a center console with a locking storage bin. The air conditioning was serviced in preparation for the sale. The woodgrain steering wheel features a Mopar-branded center cap, and it frames digital instrumentation that includes an 8k-rpm tachometer, a 160-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The LCD odometer shows less than 700 miles, and total mileage is unknown.

Exterior:

Delivered from the factory in Bright Blue Metallic (QQ1), the car was placed on a rotisserie and repainted under previous ownership. Features include concealed headlights, hood-mounted turn-signal indicators, Hemi door badges, a black vinyl top, a polished fuel-filler cap, and black R/T tail strip.

Drivetrain:

The replacement 426ci Hemi V8 is has been rebuilt and stroked, then fitted with a FiTech dual-quad-style fuel-injection system. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip rear end with 3.54:1 gearing. The dual exhaust system features tubular headers, an X-pipe, and Borla mufflers. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery. American Racing 20″ wheels are finished in black with polished lips and are mounted with 255/35 front and 345/30 rear Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires showing 2016 and 2017 date codes. A painted steel wheel with a Firestone bias-ply red-line tire is stowed in the trunk. A custom independent front suspension and front and rear coilovers were installed along with rack-and-pinion steering. Braking is provided by a power-assisted Wilwood system with slotted and cross-drilled rotors at all four corners as well as six-piston front calipers and four-piston rears. The Wilwood master cylinder was serviced in preparation for the sale.
